Second attempt · this one written down

You saved it once and then it went. A hundred days, counted this time.

The fund existed. Then a car, a wedding, a bad quarter or a long slow drift of ordinary weekends, and the balance went back to where it started with nothing to show for the months.

Questions from a second attempt

Will this stop me spending it again?

No programme can promise that. What changes is that the spending becomes visible while it happens rather than afterwards.

Do I have to explain what happened last time?

Not to us and not to the group. The reports are about today onwards.

Do you hold or lock the money?

No. Nothing here touches your money in any way. Where you keep it is your decision, and we give no advice on it.

What if I break it again on day forty?

You write that down and keep reporting. Days you showed up are the count, and a bad day reported is still one of them.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is a discipline programme, with no guidance on mortgages, products, investments or tax.

how it runs

The same hundred days, with a record this time

01Three tasks decided in the morningThe drift happened in unconsidered moments. Writing the tasks early is the only way to reach those moments in advance.
02A nightly report, including the bad daysEspecially the bad days. A logged slip stays a slip; an unlogged one becomes the start of the next three weeks.
03Readers who have done the same thingNobody here is on a clean first attempt. That makes reporting a poor week normal rather than a confession.

the shape of it

What the hundred days usually look like

1of 100 days

Suspicion, mostly. The first week is spent waiting for this to collapse the way the last attempt did.

A hundred days at that pace comes to 1,000. Twelve months of the same habit: 3,650.

Arithmetic in whatever unit you count in. It is a sum, not a forecast.

Day 1–10

Suspicion, mostly. The first week is spent waiting for this to collapse the way the last attempt did.

Day 25

The first bad stretch arrives and gets written down instead of hidden. This is the day the run is actually decided.

Day 100

A hundred days including the difficult ones, all of them visible. The pattern that emptied the account is no longer invisible.

Three tasks each morning. One report each night. A hundred days of down payment.
