Parents · the hour before anyone is awake

A hundred days that start before they wake

There is one hour a day that is genuinely yours, and it is the one before the house comes alive. It is also the easiest hour in the world to give back, one snooze at a time, for a month.

Day 1–10

Mostly bedtime engineering. The run at six is decided at ten the night before.

Day 30

The first properly broken week. You shrink the tasks, keep the report, and the hundred days hold.

Day 100

The early hour has stopped being something you defend and become something the household plans around.

The hour is available until something else needs it

why the early hour disappears

A broken night eats tomorrow's runOne child up at three, and the alarm becomes negotiable. Two of those in a week and the early hour quietly reverts to sleep.
Your time is the first thing the household spendsNobody asks for it out loud. It simply goes to the school run, the sick day, the load of washing that nobody else started.
Nobody at home is keeping score for youStreak runners say it plainly: if the people around you are indifferent to the habit, the habit does not survive. At 5 a.m. indifference is the default, because everyone is asleep.

how it runs

how it runs

01 Write tomorrow's three tasks tonight Before bed, not at the alarm. The decision belongs to the version of you that is awake and thinking clearly.
02 One report at the end of the day Two lines, typed with one hand while dinner is on. What got done, what did not, what tomorrow looks like.
03 Report to people, not to an app The group is full of adults whose mornings are similarly hostage. Your day 40 shows up next to someone whose toddler was also up at three.

Reasonable questions

Do I have to run every morning?

No. You set the day's task and a written rest day counts. After a night with no sleep, rest is often the honest task.

What if I can only manage fifteen minutes?

Then the task is fifteen minutes. The programme has no minimum distance — it has a minimum of one report a day.

Are there live calls I have to attend?

No. Everything is written and asynchronous, which is the only format that works at this hour.

Does it have to be the morning?

No. Mornings are the angle of this page, not a rule. Some people in the group run at nine in the evening.

What if the whole week collapses?

You report the collapse. The hundred days count reported days, so a bad week costs you a bad week and not the programme.

Three tasks each morning. One report each night. A hundred days of running.
